Dress Code 2019-2020
We are "uniform optional". What this means is that uniform is not required but if you have a student coming from another school that already has uniforms or if you are a parent that prefers to send your child in a "uniform", feel free to send them in those items. Otherwise, please see the list of permitted and what's not permitted below.
WHAT IS PERMITTED:
Tops
· Shirts can be polo, button-down, or tee shirt.
· All shirts must have sleeves.
· No see-through shirts may be worn without an additional dress code shirt worn underneath.
· Shirts can be any color and may be solid or patterned.
· Shirts must cover the entire chest area and mid-section.
· Sweaters, sweatshirts, and turtlenecks may be worn inside the classroom if temperatures dictate.
Bottoms
· Pants may be any color.
· Jeans are allowed.
· Shorts, skirts, skorts, and dresses must be knee length or longer.
· Bottoms must be free of holes, tears, and fraying.
· Pants and shorts must fit and be worn at the natural waist-line.
Footwear:
· Footwear must cover the entire foot, have a “back”, and be secure and well-fitting.
· Footwear should be “flat” for safety.
WHAT IS NOT PERMITTED:
· Obscene, inappropriate, or suggestive words, pictures or symbols on any article of clothing
· Yoga pants, leggings/jeggings/tights (without a skirts, dress, or pant on top), joggers, sweatpants, athletic shorts.
· Flip-flops, house shoes, backless shoes
· Jackets and Hoodies worn inside the building
· Hats, caps, bandanas, sweatbands, sun visors, and sunglasses
· Sagging
· Jewelry (other than “stud” earrings for pierced ears)
· Tank tops and tops with spaghetti straps
· “High” heel shoes of any sort
**Please note that our forest kindergarten class may have a slightly different "suggested" dress code to follow.**
*All final discretion related to the dress code rests with CDESA administration.
*The administration reserves the right to address any item of clothing deemed inappropriate or not within uniform guidelines. Parents will be contacted and asked to bring appropriate clothes if a student arrives at school out of uniform or in inappropriate dress.
We recommend that PK and Kindergarten parents send in a change of clothes for their student in a labeled bag for those "just in case" moments.
