Parent Classroom Visit Procedures

Parent Classroom Observation Procedures/Classroom Visits

Parent involvement is strongly encouraged at Calvin Donaldson. The following guidelines have been established to minimize distractions and to maximize student learning:

• Parents/Guardians do not need to schedule classroom visits ahead of time or notify the teacher(s) of their  desire to observe in the classroom.

• All parents, legal guardians and guardians with physical custody of students must stop at the office to      secure a “Visitor Pass”. This pass is generated via the RAPTOR system and will include the parent/guardian’s name, photo, and specific classroom to be visited. If multiple classroom visits are requested, the parent/guardian must return to the office to secure a pass for each classroom observation.

• The parent/guardian will not communicate or disturb the teacher or any student in the classroom.

• Parents/guardians must do their observations in the classroom and not at the classroom door.

• Observations are limited to 30 minutes or less per classroom per day.

• Following the observation, if the parent/guardian wants a conference with the teacher, the parent/guardian must make a request in the office to the principal or assistant principal. Please understand you most likely will need to leave a message with the office staff for administration to return your message with a phone call.

• The parent/guardian conference will be scheduled for another day.

• All visitors must be listed on the student’s enrollment card. Anyone not listed under “permission to dismiss” will not be allowed to visit the student.

• If a parent/guardian violates the procedures outlined, the privilege of classroom observations will be rescinded by the principal.

ALL VISITORS MUST REPORT TO THE OFFICE WITH THE PROPER IDENTIFICATION.  PLEASE SEE OUR SECTION ON RAPTOR Visitor Management System
